Nothing — truly, nothing — is more frustrating than trying to figure out how to access the government procurement process. And yet government contracts can be extremely lucrative for small business owners.

Today our staff met with Gordon Bonnes, government contracting specialist with Iowa State University Extension’s Center for Industrial Research and Service (CIRAS). Gordon is CIRAS’s newest team member, located in the Council Bluffs area to serve western Iowa businesses. Gordon is a Procurement Technical Assistance Counselor (PTAC) with 20 years of experience in supply chain management through the provision of products to the local, state and federal markets.

His expertise includes government business development as well as teaming with federal agencies in new product design and introduction.  He has leveraged management of vendor and sub-contractor compliance issues dictated by product, corporate and government requirements and programs to produce successful government supplier outcomes. He assists Western Iowa companies with a full range of government contracting services.

Gordon is certified in Supply Chain Management and is a U.S. Army veteran.

If you have questions about government procurement at any level — local, state or federal, please contact Gordon at 712-308-2229 or e-mail him at gbonnes@iastate.edu. For more information about CIRAS, visit www.ciras.iastate.edu.

We are thrilled to be working with Gordon and know this partnership will help us better meet the needs of business owners in Southwest Iowa.
